The Fundraising Party and Countdown

I am still in a bit of shock over this one. As of the writing of this post we have raised just over $7500 for the Vihiga School and several orphanages/street kid programs and business education programs we will be participating in - that is nothing short of incredible. The party was a spirited affair with incredible food and fun. Admission was by donation and for $25 you could "buy a day" - as $25 buys 250 kids lunch at the school. People were buying birthdays, christmas gifts, anniversary's - see the pics below that I have attached.

5 days and counting. All medications including the travellers's D and malaria are up to par and we are just hoping that the Kenya/Somolia situation calms down. All our reports from Kenya say the areas we are going to remain unaffected however it is passing through Nairobi that gives us all the greatest concern - so instead of sleeping in a hotel we will spend a few hrs at airport and fly out to Kisumu and bus it up from there.

The eight of us are bonding very well as a team and it is fun and spirited company to be in.  Just two boxes on chocolate protein bars to buy at Costco tomorrow and I think we are ready (ok - we all have a sweet tooth:)
